Pippin is a 6 year old male whippet. Prior to ending up in foster care he spent his life at an outdoor puppy mill. For the past 2 months Pippin has been living with 3 other sighthounds and learning all about home life. He came to us very fearful of loud sounds, fast movements and did not like being left alone. He has made huge progress and now enjoys 2 walks a day, rides well in the car, uses a doggie door and likes to snuggle up on the couch. We have gradually worked up to leaving him crated for a couple of hours at a time. He can still be skittish and sudden movement sometimes startle him. Pippin finds comfort in the company of other dogs so his ideal home will have 1 or more sighthound and someone who is home most of the time. He is a sweet boy who is still gaining confidence every day.
Ginger is a 3.5 year old greyhound/Irish wolfhound mix. This soft, fuzzy girl is a happy affectionate girl and walks well on leash. She is in a foster home with several other sighthounds and has done well with all of them. She was used as a hunting dog in the central valley, so we don’t know yet how she will do with smaller dogs. Although she has lived outside in her previous home, she has had no accidents in her foster home.
Update 2/22/17. Ginger did well with medium and large dogs in the pack at King’s Kastle. She was not good with the little dogs and is not cat safe. But she is a glutton for human attention and would like nothing more than to curl up on a couch with someone!
