Mia

Adopted! Mia is a 6-year old red brindle greyhound who was at HemoPet for several years before going to Susan Acevas at Amazing Greys.  Because of health issues, Susan needs to find a new home for her.  Mia has no pancreatic enzymes, so she needs to have a sprinkling of these enzymes on her food twice a day in order to absorb the nutrients from her food.  Mia is affectionate and loves to get cuddles. She loves riding in the car/truck and  will race to it when it’s time for an outing.  When you sing her name, she starts to dance and will join in any sing-a-longs (roo-fests)!  She is housetrained.  Mia should not live with cats or very small dogs.

Brooke

Adopted! Brooke is a 10 year old girl who arrived on November 14 from the Canidrome track in Macau.  She is amazingly spry for her age!  She’s showing a lot of interest in the little dogs right now, so we’ll be doing some careful integration into the pack over the next few days.  Brooke should not live with cats.

Safqa

Adopted! Safqa is a 9 year old female Azawakh Hound
We were notified by a greyhound friend in Southern California about two sighthounds who were boarded at the Arroyo Vista Veterinary Hospital.  This is the writeup on their FB page:
“A very dear, long time friend of Arroyo Vista Vet is in her last days. We made a promise to her family that we would help find a new home for her two beloved dogs, Hadrian and Safqa.
Hadrian is an 11 year old neutered male Afgan Hound Mix and Safqa is a 9 year old spayed female Azawakh Hound. They are beautiful, sweet, well behaved dogs that would make a great addition to any family. They get along with other dogs and seem to do well with cats too.
Safqa has had seizures in the past, but none since starting her special diet. Hadrian is on 2 medications and will be sent home with 5 months of them for free. They are also both fully vaccinated and have insurance that can be transferred to their new owners.”
We brought these two dogs into Greyhound Friends for Life on November 9th.  They are integrated well into the pack at King’s Kastle.  Both dogs will be supported by the BEST Fund for their medications (Hadrian) and her special diet (Safqa).  Hadrian is a happy, goofy, affectionate boy who will talk to you if you start a conversation!  He has the biggest paws I’ve ever seen!  Safqa is somewhat aloof with new people – typical Azawakh – but she will warm up once she has a new family.  These two dogs have lived together their entire lives and it would be great if they could be adopted together.  We realize that this will be difficult, so if both dogs went to homes with other dogs, we think that they would adapt.
