Benoit
"Sweet springtime is my time, is your time,
is our time for springtime is love time,
and viva sweet love. " ee cummings
Benoit is “viva sweet love”! This princess knows her etiquette and is ready to woo all with her endearing and gracious charms. At almost five years of age, she has developed a pleasant maturity that balances her lively temperament. She is currently being assessed for a mild medical condition. Though cats are not a good compliment to Benoit, she interacts well with other medium to large dogs and children. Spring Time: Is this your time, her time, a time to bring a loving companion home?
Update 5/24/10: Benoit has been living in a foster home with four other greyhounds for about 4 weeks now. She is perfectly housebroken and learned the dog door and stairs in about 2 minutes. She is very affectionate and loves toys. She has taken most of the household toys out to the back yard - at last count there were 21 out there. In her spare time, she guards the back yard from the squirrels that she knows want to rule the world and then rests before going back out on guard duty.. |

Bali Adopted 7/3/10
"Sit quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself." – Zen saying
This is Bali, optimistically awaiting his place and time to plant himself in home and heart. A race dog from Guam who was abandoned when the track closed, this tender boy travelled over the ocean to the U.S. last July. He has little patience for unruly dogs and low pain tolerance. No wonder - this saint is the survivor of a brutal dog attack in Guam. A home with older or no children and a maximum of two other medium to large dogs would be ‘green pasture’ for Bali. This 5 ½ year old, dashing black male is well mannered in general and on leash. The grass is growing… can you help Bali find his promise of spring? |

Era
Adopted 7/24/10
This 5 year old white and black male is a happy and friendly boy. He can be a bit boisterous at times and may need to be reminded of his manners, but he does respond well to correction. He is not cat safe but he is otherwise an easy dog.

Turbo
"No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow." ~Proverb
Turbo has had a long winter and would like to find his forever home this spring! Can you fulfill this proverb for Turbo? He is a happy-go-lucky gentleman with all people, but unfortunately past experiences as a stray in Guam make him on guard with male dogs. When the racetrack in Guam closed, Turbo was given away to the public without any lifestyle requirements. When he was rescued, he had a skull fracture from being hit with a baseball bat. He recovered at a foster home in Guam before traveling to the U.S. in search of his future as a pampered pet. This 5 year old sweetheart is approaching his one year anniversary as a foster – a very lengthy season. Turbo loves to play with toys, bounce around the yard, and go for long walks. He needs a family without cats, but would flourish with one large female dog or as a single pet with stay-at-home adopters.

Peter
"If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom." ~Terri Guillemets
Watching Peter blossom into a Greyt Dog while a GFFL foster has been thrilling! Part of a hoarding situation confiscation by Kings County Animal Services last year, this fellow has transformed from a shy and fearful creature into an affectionate and relaxed “man’s best friend.” Approaching middle age at about six years old, Peter is the ideal companion for a relatively low energy lifestyle. His long, dense coat is due to his Borzoi heritage and those perky ears, to his Greyhound genes. This soft-souled guy tends to tread lightly or avoid dogs that are forward and he is not compatible with small animals. Is Peter the thrilling spring bloom for your soul?
